Reaction: Oliver Solberg X WRC Kenya

After 19 stages and 363.44km Oliver Solberg and co-driver Elliott Edmondson arrived at the finish in 10th position.
Oliver explained: “I told you guys before the start that I wanted to make the finish to take as much experience as I could… I didn’t expect to take so much experience like this. The roads, the people and the place here in Kenya, it’s just beautiful – I love it!

“But oh my goodness, what a tough one. At times it’s been unbelievable. We lost power again one morning because of the dust coming to the engine – we stopped and changed the air filter. Then we had so much more dust, it was completely covering the screen. I couldn’t see anything. 

 “The rally has been such a big test for us on every level. The team has been fantastic, the guys there have worked so, so hard all of the time. When we came from the penultimate stage in the rain , the car was full of mud; mud like I’ve never seen before. Everything needed cleaning like it hadn’t been cleaned before. Honestly, everybody has worked unbelievably hard to get us to the finish. Thank you to them and thank you to Elliott for another fantastic job in the co-driver’s seat.” 

“One thing which has been unbelievable today is the people and the support and the atmosphere out here – this is the Safari Rally! To be here and compete in this incredible event is just fantastic.”
