OF MICE & MEN DROP NEW SONG "HOW TO SURVIVE"

Feb 152019

Yesterday saw an ominous warning message on the website of Southern California Of heavy hitters Of Mice & Men. A countdown timer and mysterious imagery had many fans suspecting new music on its way, fortunately they were right! The band has been incredibly busy in the studio this past few months working on brand new material with Grammy winning producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Gojira, Korn, Avenged Sevenfold). Now we have our first taste of new Of Mice & Men music with “How to Survive”…and it is crushing!

With its upbeat tempo, intense drumming and driving groovy guitar riffs, the verses almost border on a Slipknot-esque vibe (something which is always welcome!) followed by a battering breakdown and guitar solo that even Slayer’s Kerry King would be proud of. We forsee many primal festival circle pits kicking up dust in Of Mice & Men’s future thanks to “How To Survive”. Lyrically, the track deals with being bullied and serves as an uplifting message and inspiration to the downtrodden.

"'How to Survive' is an anthem for those who have been the receiving end of unmerited and targeted hatred and abuse," said singer and bassist Aaron Pauley, offering a deeper insight into the impactful song. "It's for the kid who was bullied, beat up, and ignored in school. It's for the teenager who was told that they'll never amount to anything and that their thoughts, feelings, and opinions don't matter to the world. It's for the person who has been told that they're worthless, useless, or not good enough, time and time again. It's for the person who's repeatedly been targeted by those who only seek to tear others around them down."

He further stated, "This song is for them. This song is for me. I am them, and I'm still standing. So, turn it up. Feel the rage. If you, too, are that person, you will know it well, and it will greet you like an old friend."

“How To Survive” is the first taste of new music from the Southern California 4 piece since 2018’s highly-praised Defy album. 2019 is going to be a busy year for OM&M. The band will hit the road for back-to-back U.S. tours, hitting the road with Nothing More beginning next week, followed by a second part in the later spring. All upcoming OM&M dates are below.
