Ya girl Rico Nasty is back, and she’s jumping on stages across North America with the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. Rico brings her own brand of hip hop with a grungy punk rock twist and has a number of surprises in store for her fans for this tour.
We’re certainly no stranger to Rico Nasty who has made her way from the underground via Soundcloud mixtapes during high school, all the way to lighting up stages of late, such as Outside Lands 2021 and our Live On Location livestream series in 2020.
Rico is a genre-bending artist, blending grimey influences of punk rock and grunge sounds into her MD brand of hip hop. Her song ‘Smack A B*tch’ which has over 124 million plays on Spotify is a perfect example of this
Rico looks to the stars, rock stars that is. She has cited influence by, and a love for artists such as Joan Jett of ‘Joan Jett & the Blackhearts,’ Rihanna and Avril Lavigne among other inspirations.
Music runs in the family – Rico's mother encouraged her to pursue poetry, while her father was also a rapper by the stage name of Beware, and he had even been on tour with artists such as Jadakiss.
Rico is weebo and that’s just kawaii! A family friend turned her onto anime as a teen and now she loves Naruto & Dragon Ball Z, Chobits with a little Hello Kitty on the side. This anime influence has even infiltrated Rico’s music videos.
Rico is massively into fashion, and it bleeds into everything she creates. Rico has always looked up to Rhianna and eventually she received a care package from the original Bad Gal’s Fenty high-end line and went on to become one staple faces of Riri’s lingerie line Savage x Fenty.
