JB Mauney

J.B. Mauney, concluded the 2020 season by qualifying for a record-tying 15th consecutive PBR World Finals and, in doing so, confirmed he will return to competition in 2021 with the goal of making it 16 consecutive appearances. The North Carolina native, who now makes his home in Texas, is thought by many to be the greatest bull rider in PBR history, and with damn-good reason. He’s won two world titles — 2013 and 2015 — and, in the process, he became the richest western sports athlete in history with nearly $7.3 million won. He’s tied for the most career event wins with 32, he’s second in most career qualified rides, second in qualified rides for 90 or more points and, since 2007, he’s the only rider to have ridden every World Champion bull but one. In addition to his two world titles, Mauney has won the World Finals average twice — 2009 and 2013 — and was the 2006 PBR Rookie of the Year, but he will be best remembered for the Saturday night in August 2013 when he rode Bushwacker for 95.25 points in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And for good measure, he’s won the Touring Pro title in 2006 and 2009, the Calgary Stampede in 2009 and 2013, and has had the highest-marked ride at the PBR World Finals six times (2007, ’08, ’09, ’13, ’14, and ’15).
